Climate Action Plan 3.0

UMD's Current Plan for reaching Net Zero Carbon

Since 2007, UMD has pursued carbon neutrality. The latest technical plan, regularly updated with input from operational leaders, marks the third major version approved by the University Sustainability Council and President Pines. The University Senate reviewed it in December 2024.

    New! Training is now available for filing Property Damage Claims.

    2021-2022 Annual Report is now available.

  • Hazardous and Universal Waste Temporary Pickup Pause

    Effective Monday, August 15, 2022 through Monday, September 5, 2022, there will be no chemical or universal waste pickups. Regularly scheduled pickups will resume September 5, 2022.   Biohazardous and radioactive waste collections will continue without interruption.  If you have any questions or have a waste pickup that is absolutely critical, contact us at envaffairs@umd.edu.  We appreciate your understanding and patience with this matter.
