Strategic Plan

Welcome!

The University of Maryland is committed to the safety of all individuals in its community. Procedures and guidelines have been established for those who may work or interact with individuals under the age of 18, with the goal of promoting the safety and wellbeing of minors.

Minors engage with the university in many ways including summer camps, internships, private lessons, workshops and research studies. In recognition of this, The University of Maryland has launched a comprehensive Strategic Plan on establishing an enterprise-wide risk management system for any university-affiliated activity involving minors. Led by Youth Protection Compliance Manager, Megan McWilliams, this initiative establishes centralized governance and compliance standards, enhanced training and capacity building and ensures operational excellence, creating a culture of safeguarding, institutional resilience and excellence in youth engagement.
