The Biosafety Team’s series of posters honoring the heroes of biosafety and biosecurity at UMD has earned First Place in the ABSA International Biosafety Month Outreach Award. This prestigious award recognizes organizations that demonstrate exceptional creativity and impact in promoting biosafety outreach during Biosafety & Biosecurity Month, held each October.
This year’s campaign—“It Takes a Village to Build a Culture of Biosafety”—highlighted the essential contributions of researchers, compliance committees (IBC, IACUC), Facilities Management, UMPD, OEMBC, DLAR, ORA, ESSR, and many other partners who help sustain a safe and compliant research environment. The award reflects UMD’s leadership and commitment to strengthening biosafety culture through collaboration, awareness, and community engagement.
