October 2025 marks the 12th anniversary of Biosafety & Biosecurity Month, established by ABSA International. This year, the University of Maryland is celebrating with the theme:
“It takes a village to build a culture of biosafety: honoring the heroes of biosafety & biosecurity.”
Throughout the month, the Biosafety Office at ESSR will share a series of seven posters with the research community, highlighting the dedication and collaboration of teams across UMD, including researchers, the IBC, FM, UMPD, and other campus stakeholders who contribute each day to advancing a safe and responsible research environment. Each poster acknowledges the shared responsibility of biosafety and biosecurity, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in enhancing UMD’s research safety culture.
