Recombinant or Synthetic Nucleic Acids
Compliance with the NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant DNA Molecules (NIH Guidelines) is mandatory for every institution that receives NIH funding for research involving recombinant or synthetic nucleic acids. Principal Investigators are responsible for registering with the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) all experiments involving these materials. The UMD IBC meets monthly on the first Wednesday of the month. Registrations must be submitted by the 15th of the month to be considered at the following month's meeting. Registration is available online.
