Laser Safety

The University of Maryland Laser Safety Program applies to the use of all Class 3 and Class 4 lasers on campus. The program outlines the requirements and recommendations for controlling hazards associated with laser use. Elements of the Laser Safety Program include training, laser registration, and laser warning signs. The Laser Safety Program is based on the American National Standard for Safe Use of Lasers (ANSI Z136.1).
